Welcome friends and family to the NIU community for
the upcoming semesters. It is my deepest hope that you have enjoyed your
break and are as excited in anticipation for the coming year as I am. I am
Robert Sorsby and I serve as the Director of Mass Transit for the Student
Association. I have been active with the mass transit board for a year now and I
am very happy to serve in this capacity.
The NIU Huskie Line is here to serve the students of NIU and the DeKalb
community. The Huskie Line is one of the largest transportation systems in the
state of Illinois. Changes from last year’s service include the
introduction of route 8 and 7a and double the service on the weekend thanks to a
new weekend schedule. In addition, we have implemented a GPS system that can be
accessed from any computer and we have GPS monitors in every residence hall and
major academic building!
As we move into the academic year of 2008-2009, I want to convey the importance
of student input and our response to all inquiries or concerns. In preparation
for obtaining student input, I have planned and created many open forums and
surveys in hopes of gaining a better perspective on what students wish to get
out of their Huskie line experience. In essence, it will be a year labeled
as “Back to the Basics” to make sure that we cater to you – the students!
With this being said all, questions, concerns, or suggestions can be directly
forwarded to me at
(815) 753-0308 or you can feel free to visit our website at
www.huskieline.com to give your input
or access the GPS system. Thank you in advance for your input and I look forward
to working with you this year.
In the Spirit of the Huskies,
Robert Sorsby
