Hello, and welcome
back for the upcoming year at NIU; it is my sincere hope that you all had an
enjoyable summer and are looking forward tot he upcoming semesters.
This past summer has
been a busy one for both the Student Association and Huskie Line – a subsidiary
of Veolia Transportation, Incorporated - as we have been engaged in a number of
drastic changes to enhance the already superlative service to the students of
Northern and the community of DeKalb, in addition to taking responsibility for
our environment. We have added buses, improved customer service, and initiated a
number of projects for the well being of the community.
One of these
projects, of which I am supremely proud to announce, is the conversion of Huskie
Line to eco-friendly soy bio-diesel at a significantly lower cost to the
students. This dissociation from fossil fuels has not only placed our system,
the second largest in the state of Illinois, at the cutting edge of
transportation, but also attest to our commitment to securing a greener, and
ultimately brighter future for our University and surrounding environs, all
while providing expedient and minimal cost service to our riders.
With these
improvements duly noted, it is my duty to serve the students, and should you
have any questions, comments, or concerns that need to be addressed, feel free
to directly them to me at 815-753-0308, or you may visit our website at
www.huskieline.com. The Student Association is your government, and I hope we
may work together to meet the needs of students. |
